Remaining 2002 Avon Breast Cancer 3-Days Set to Continue; Atlanta, New York and LA Events on Schedule
Sep 6, 2002
The Avon Foundation, a public charity, and Pallotta TeamWorks, the producer of the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Days and other fundraising events, announced today that the remaining three Avon Breast Cancer 3-Days will take place as scheduled. The way forward is now cleared as the Avon Foundation and Pallotta TeamWorks have developed a plan for completing the remaining events, which are scheduled for Atlanta (October 4-6), New York (October 11-13) and Los Angeles (October 18-20).
Committed to the walkers, the donors, and the breast cancer cause, the Avon Foundation and Pallotta TeamWorks held ongoing discussions and the talks on going ahead with the remaining events were successfully concluded on September 6. The Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day events, each with thousands of dedicated walkers and hundreds of volunteer crew, will raise awareness and funds for the Avon Foundation's Breast Cancer Crusade and the fight against breast cancer.
The Avon Foundation's Breast Cancer Crusade launched in the US in 1993 and serves the mission to fund access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer. Funds are awarded for breast cancer medical research, clinical care, support services, education and early detection programs, with a focus on the medically underserved -- including the poor, minorities, elderly, and those without adequate insurance. Among the hundreds of beneficiaries nationwide are: the Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University School of Medicine and Grady Health System in Atlanta; the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City and the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of California Irvine.
The Avon Breast Cancer 3-Days were launched in 1998 as one fundraising program of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade in the U.S., which raises funds through a variety of initiatives. Avon also supports breast cancer programs in nearly 50 countries. More information on the Avon Foundation's Breast Cancer Crusade can be found at http://www.avoncrusade.com/.
