 BRASILIA, BRAZIL (NOV. 29, 2012) — The Avon Foundation for Women, Brazil’s Avon Institute and Vital Voices hosted the second global summit of the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Women on November 27th - November 29th. Leading human rights defenders from around the world gathered in Brazil to collaborate on building innovative approaches to address this pressing social issue. Avon CEO Sheri McCoy was the first person to sign a groundbreaking corporate commitment - “Commitment and Attitude: Maria da Penha Law - The Law Is Stronger" - to end violence against women, which Brazil's Minister of Women's Policy launched at the summit. McCoy also announced the debut of the Avon Foundation-funded Communications X-Change, an innovative global digital library for sharing and finding information about combatting violence against women. And McCoy revealed that Avon will award a total of $100,00 to the most innovative project ideas - aimed at ending such violence - to emerge from the summit.
